Serkan AKTAŞ is a Turkish filmmaker who hold degrees in business, mathematics and has a PhD in the art of filmmaking.
The starting point of the movie “The Librarian” was to build a story through one of the lonely, uncommunicative people who are influenced by social life, who have boundaries within themselves and who want to break these boundaries.
The protagonist in the movie is a reader, a book lover, moreover, a person who highly values the human-society-life bonds provided by the language, and tries to 'learn a language' just for this purpose in order to read a poet he loves in his own language.
The main reason for his inner conflict is the spread of another culture and language (Arabic) in his country, which opened its doors to immigrants for political reasons, and therefore the deep crisis occurred, as well as his emotional shock with the tragic news of the refugees he came across in the media and his unemployment. He is still looking for the solution of this situation he is in. For this reason, the character/personality in the story is developed by dividing the screen into two. In a way, it was aimed to make the audience understand the character's situation better with the help of this duality.
