The Future Can Be Yours

Director Statement

Finding time in the bustle of a standard job within standard practice and standard understanding can be a drag. Not only do the bills need paying, but mad ideas need time to cultivate, gestate and emerge into the mp4 format. The Future Can Be Yours is some kind of mirror into a mind that doesn’t know quite what’s going on, but tries daily to keep a grip on things and move forward to the next day of adventure. The story is about the daily grind, a dysfunctional relationship or the conundrum of infinity. Things like characterisation, material location and exposition are jettisoned to provide a mirror for the audience to self reflect, with the images an arena for the imagination to run rampant.

There was no way to visualise this film before the advent of AI software. By encouraging the hallucinations of the computer we can use traditional filmmaking techniques to bring light to worlds yet unexplored, all on hardware that anyone can access and partner with. The production of the film has been the perfect excuse to bring together an incredibly talented cast and crew, all of whom have been incredibly versatile and innovative to be open for experimentation. We’ve seen so many different roles impacted by the introduction of AI, hopefully our film can show a practical path forward.
